Hatch Medical’s Advanced Retrieval Device Receives FDA Approval

Atlanta , Georgia – Hatch Medical, L.L.C., a medical device incubator and technology brokerage firm, today announced that Medical Device Technologies, Inc. (MD TECH), a member of The Marmon Group of companies, has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its novel foreign body retrieval device, EN Snare®.  Under terms of a prior agreement, MD Tech will manufacture and globally distribute the product through its direct sales force and distributor network.  

John Kaufman, M.D., Professor, Dotter Interventional Institute, Oregon Health Sciences University, who performed the initial clinical studies on EN Snare®, commented, “Hatch Medical's EN Snare® is the most important advance in foreign body retrieval devices in over a decade.  During our clinical work the device demonstrated exceptional utility in a variety of endovascular applications.   The forward-looking multi-loop design is unique, providing rapid, secure engagement of a wide variety of objects.  Opening of the loops is predictable and easily controlled by the physician, allowing precise and definitive ensnarement.

Hatch Medical’s EN Snare® foreign body retrieval device incorporates proprietary technology and design elements that improve upon the overall utility, accuracy and simplicity of foreign body retrieval.  As a result, EN Snare® is ideally suited to address the needs of physicians performing complex endovascular procedures in the peripheral vascular system and hollow viscous.  It is estimated that over 75,000 foreign body retrieval procedures will be performed in 2002 by cardiologists, vascular surgeons, radiologists, gastroenterologists and urologists around the globe.
